Dear All
I want to let you know that we are embarking on an ambitious project to restore Innis Bhuidhe, the Clan Macnab Burial Island in the Falls of Dochart in Killin.  I think you will agree that this is the most important Macnab Site in the world.  It is the place that all Macnabs should visit.  It is one of the most beautiful and atmospheric places in Scotland.
The structures on the island are now aging and need to be restored before they deteriorate beyond repair.  The project will be a big one and will be expensive.  It is important that we do the work correctly and with proper consents from the various planning and heritage authorities.  To that end I have instructed Rod Binns of Lorn Macneal Architects to oversee the project.   His first task is to put a Conservation Plan in place.  He has recently visited the site with a Structural Engineer and has now reported to me with his recommendations and initial estimates of costings.  I attach these below.
The island is owned by the Macnab Memorial Trust.  The existing Trustees are me, my brother Geoffrey,  my cousin Ian, Hamish Macnab of Barravorich.  Bob Macnab, President of the Clan Macnab Society of North America is in the process of being made a Trustee.
We will need to start fund raising to finance this project.  I have asked Rod to phase the work so that it can be done as and when funding allows.  A significant aspect of the project will be to create a memorial structure where plaques can be erected to acknowledge significant donations.  I, and the other Trustees, want Innis Bhuidhe to become a memorial place for all Macnab families and not just our own.
I hope you will be willing to support this project.  If I may I will provide you with updates as we go along.
Yours Aye
Jamie Macnab of Macnab
